Caine Prize Readings at the Southbank Centre

If you find yourself in London on the 6th July, it would be great to have you in the audience at the the 2008 Caine Prize Readings, part of the London Literary Festival at the Southbank Centre. Two South African authors are on the shortlist this year. The prize was won by our own Mary Watson in 2006, and last year by Ugandan writer Monica Arac de Nyeko.
From the London Litfest site:
Experience the finest new African writing at this annual event. Gary Younge introduces the shortlisted authors who read from and discuss their work, highlighting the extraordinary breadth of the continent’s literature. The writers are Mohammed Naseehu Ali (Ghana), Stanley Onjezani Kenani (Malawi), Henrietta Rose-Innes (South Africa), Gill Schierhout (South Africa) and Uzor Maxim Uzoatu (Nigeria). The prize has launched the careers of many African writers including Helon Habila and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Join us to hear the writers who will follow in their footsteps.
